IF YOU ARE AN UPPER DIVISION UNDERGRADUATE, MASTER'S, OR PH.D. STUDENT ATTENDING AN ACCREDITED UNIVERSITY AND RESIDING IN COCHISE COUNTY, SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION FOR A SCHOLARSHIP RANGING FROM $1,000 TO $8,000.

Scholarships Available

 

Active duty, veteran, and military spouse scholarships are financial awards that recognize the sacrifices made by service members and their families. These awards are specifically designed to provide support to members of the military community in their pursuit of higher education.

Cyber and applied computing scholarships are financial awards tailored to support students pursuing studies in fields such as cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, and applied computing. These scholarships aim to cultivate a skilled workforce in areas crucial to modern technology and security.

Need-based scholarships are financial awards provided to students based on their demonstrated financial need. These awards take into account the financial circumstances of the applicant and their family who may not have the financial means to afford higher education expenses.

 

 

Merit-based scholarships are financial awards granted to students based on their academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, leadership qualities, or other noteworthy accomplishments.

 

The Education Unidos Scholarship Fund supports educational success and completion for students living in the Cochise County border region.  Applicants should have a minimum 2.5 GPA and have completed 100 hours of community service. Once awarded a scholarship, awardees are expected to complete 25 hours of community service that academic year. 

Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Cooperative is a non profit, member-owned distributive cooperative founded in 1938 and has grown from serving 266 members to being the largest electric cooperative in Arizona. SSVEC is dedicated to community growth, quality of life, and a positive vision for the future. SSVEC scholarships are awarded to recipients who are members or related to members of the Cooperative and have a desire to make a positive impact on their community. 

Richard Besselman was a long-time Sierra Vista resident who dedicated much of his life to public and community service. He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona, a master's degree from Western International University, and ran countless marathons around the United States. His positivity and belief in always making an impact left an indelible mark on the Sierra Vista community. The recipient of the Besselman Memorial Scholarship will display a sincere commitment to community involvement while maintaining educational and professional goals. 

Dr. Judy A. Gignac-Leininger was an exceptional individual, business woman, and community leader. She was the first female elected to the Cochise County Board of Supervisors and was a founding member of community organizations such as the Legacy Foundation of Southeastern Arizona and Fort Huachuca 50. She received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from the University of Arizona, served as an Arizona Board of Regent, and played a pivotal role in the establishment of the University of Arizona South in Sierra Vista. In honor of her legacy, this scholarship is awarded to a recipient pursuing a degree in business, economics, or related field who believes in making a large impact on the fabric of their communities.
